The Swedish American Chamber of Commerce - Atlanta invites you to a join in a holiday gala with Swedish food, musical entertainment and the enchantment of a Swedish Lucia Procession on Friday, November 30 at the W Hotel at Perimeter Mall.

Renowned soprano, Elisabeth Meyer, here from Sweden, will perform at this exclusive event. And live music by the Del Baroni Orchestra (www.delbaroni.com) will set the tone for dancing and enjoying a delicious authentic Swedish Christmas smorgasbord and snaps, a traditional Scandinavian alcoholic beverage similar to German schnapps, but believed by many to be even better.

The festive evening also includes a raffle for one system-wide Delta Airlines round trip ticket and a silent auction of paintings sponsored by Grand International Art Gallery and benefiting the Dream House for Medically Fragile Children - www.dreamhouseforkids.org

Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the evening for $10.

What is a Swedish Lucia Procession?
Celebrated as a festival of light, Lucia Day marks the return of daylight to sun-starved Scandinavians in the Christmas season. Early in the morning of December 13, a young woman wearing a white gown, a red sash and a crown of candles emerges form the darkness together with a group of young girls and boys singing traditional Lucia songs. The Swedish Lucia tradition is an annual festival of medieval origin and even though named after a Sicilian saint, the Swedish Lucia does not have much in common with her namesake (www.sweden.se).
