Unemployment Benefits on Debit Cards
Many states are now distributing unemployment benefits on debit cards; however, these cards are chock-full of fees. Of the 40 states that have switched, 22 states’ cards charge ATM fees, 24 charge balance inquiry fees and 28 charge inactivity fees. The cards in Arkansas, Idaho, Nebraska, Ohio and Oregon come with overdraft fees ranging from $10-$20.

Mississippi River Flooding
In one of the worst cases of flooding since the Great Depression, The Mississippi River is overflowing across Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. In Natchez, Miss., the water stands at 58.3 feet; the 1937 watermark was 53.04 feet. Damages are expected to top $2 billion, crop lost estimates are around $800 million for Mississippi alone.
