Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar transforms City Walk at Sandy Springs into the Boardwalk
New Seafood Restaurant Brings Coastal Cuisine to the Heart of Sandy Springs
Newly opened at 227 Sandy Springs Place in City Walk at Sandy Springs, Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar is the latest creation by brother and sister team, Nik Panagopoulos and Arte Antoniades. The sibling pair is best known for the original Fishmonger Restaurant and Teela Taqueria - named by the Atlanta Journal Constitution as one of Top 10 Best Taquerias in Atlanta.
"Tin Can is our reinvention of Fishmonger, which was originally inspired by the coastline fish houses in South Africa", said Nik Panagopoulos. "With Tin Can, we wanted to bring fresh, authentic American coastal seafood tastes to the Atlanta mainland, and do so in a relaxed atmosphere where the food is delicious, affordable and abundant. We never want our guests to leave here hungry!"
Leaving hungry is less a concern as deciding exactly what to order. Tin Can's menu offers an exhaustive selection of seven different versions of Po' Boys, six versions of Oysters, three versions of Mussels and nearly two dozen seafood fusions, all reasonably priced at under $10 for most items. The $17 platters – known to satisfy a family of three with just one order – gives a choice of three menu items, from Crab Balls with marinated julienne veggies to Soft Shell Crab Sliders, seasoned and sautéed with Boom Boom Sauce to Blackened Crawfish Tails and Grits and almost a dozen other options. The beverage menu is a tribute to All-American beer, boasting a list of the finest American ale, with some world class wine and cocktails thrown in for good measure.
If the food alone doesn't recall memories of dining at Jekyll Island piers, the décor certainly does. Walking in, guests are transported to a waterfront café, and almost expect to see sand on the floor, smell an ocean breeze and have their shoes transformed into sandals. The oceanic-shaded walls are lined with copper fish in varying shapes, sizes and groups of travel. To the left of the entrance, the "catch of the day" – wooden fishes strung on a fishing line – rests against a wood stained fence. Venture into the massive patio and guests will find the perfect setting for a lazy sunny afternoon to eat, drink and watch the sun set over Tin Can's mainland boardwalk.
Tin Can opens for lunch at 11:30am seven days a week, closing at 10pm on Sunday through Thursday, and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, please visit the Tin Can website at www.tincanfishhouse.com.
