Toy Fair in New York
Toy Fair, the industry's biggest annual event, is now underway in New York. The Toy Industry Association, which sponsors the annual trade show, says it expects more than 100,000 different products to be on display, and that many of the year's toys follow these trends:
- Simply Social Physical toys that work with apps and other e-connected toys, as well as socially aware toys that encourage kids to be "everyday heroes"
- Cent-sational Toys Mini toys with mini price points
- Performance Play Challenge bodies and minds with active sports, logical thinking, and motion-sensor technology
- Design, Discover and Learn Products that emphasize "camouflage learning" (learning is fun) and "geek chic" (learning is cool.)

Apple has come out on top of Barron's annual "World's Most Respected Companies" list for the second consecutive year, while Johnson & Johnson -- which has ranked either #1 or #2 since the survey of professional money managers was launched seven years ago -- has this year plummeted to 25th place.
Rounding out the year's top five are #2 Amazon.com (up from tenth place in 2010), #3 Berkshire Hathaway (up from fifth), #4 IBM (same as 2010) and #5 McDonald's.
