How does it work?
Daybook uses three methods to reach Atlanta media and area influencers.
  • The Web: Our Web site at www.atlantadaybook.com is updated with stories each day. Media outlets can check the site at their convenience.
  • E-mail: Each day at 4:00 AM, we transmit all of the upcoming day’s stories in an e-mail to over 3100+ Atlanta media outlets, freelancers, corporate PR and marketing departments, PR agencies and civic leaders.
  • RSS news feed: Popular with journalists and readers on the go, the number of subscribers to Daybook's RSS feed is continually growing.
What material is included on the Daybook’s Web site?
We’ve designed the Daybook’s Web site to be “sticky” — full of relevant, fast-changing information that encourages frequent visits. Components include:
  • Press releases of local interest for today.
  • A searchable database of past stories.
  • Information about upcoming events from local professional organizations.
  • Expert Network directory where journalists can find local experts to interview for stories (available for Atlanta Daybook only).
  • Fast Facts, our daily column of fascinating and relevant trivia that’s often a source of water cooler conversation and banter on radio morning shows.
  • News about prominent business associations for media, PR and marketing.
  • More features of local interest are in development.

Who receives the Daybook?
Over 3100+ reporters, editors, civic and business leaders receive the daily e-mail edition. Hundreds more check the Web site each day. Daybook readers can also receive Daybook story headlines via their RSS news feed each day.

How much does it cost?
Daybook is free to news people and others who want to receive it.

For PR and marketing professionals, it is very cost-effective! Large firms can place alerts without a large budget. Small organizations, including many non-profits, can afford placement easily.

Placing a news release for Daybook Web site and e-mail distribution costs between $25 and $150 per publish date depending on the prominence of placement you choose for your story. See our Rate Card for details.

You can purchase Daybook credits by creating a Contributor account on our Web site. One Daybook credit equals $1, so, for example, if you choose to post a story costing $50, you will purchase 50 Daybook credits.

We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. You can “bank” unused credits for up to three years.

If you are purchasing $300 or more, you can pay via credit card or we can invoice your company. Purchases under $300 must be paid via credit card. Contact Daybook at [email protected] or call 770-671-0213 / 800-969-2995 for details.

How do I place a story in the Daybook?
Once you have created your account on Daybook, to place your story, you’ll need a computer, a credit card and access to the Web.

  • Step one: Visit our Web site, www.atlantadaybook.com, and click “Post Your Story” or "Sign In" at the top of the page. Determine how many credits you will use with our easy order calculator. If you already have enough credits in your account, you won’t need to purchase any more.
If you need to buy more credits, fill out the safe and secure credit card payment form or request an invoice online.
  • Step two: Select the type of story you want to publish and the dates you want to run your story. Enter in other important information about your story such as Media Contact, graphics, location, etc.
  • Step three: Fill in our easy story template with your story; in fact, you can paste text directly from your Word document into the Daybook template.
  • Step three: Preview your story and make changes, if needed. Then click “submit”.
  • Step four: Daybook will be notified automatically that you’ve submitted a story. We’ll review your story, notify you if we have any questions and then post it to run on the date(s) you selected.

Remember to include contact information such as email address, phone number and/or web address so the media may follow up with you as needed. All stories must include contact information to be approved.

Note: The deadline for submitting a story for the weekday e-mail edition varies by city (Atlanta Daybook - 5:30 PM ET; DFW Daybook - 5:00 PM CT; Nashville Daybook - 5:00 PM CT) and your story must be submitted by deadline time on the business day before you want the story to appear. If you want a story to appear in Monday’s e-mail edition, it must be submitted by the deadline on the preceding Friday.

What can I do to increase the chances that my story will get lots of coverage?

  • Make sure the story is interesting and relevant.
  • Write the headline and story summary to be clear and compelling. Remember, a reporter has to “sell” each story to readers, viewers and listeners, too.
  • Place the story in Daybook so it appears at least twice…once several days in advance and at least just prior to the day of the event. Reporters often tell us at Daybook that they would like to see stories for events at least 2 weeks in advance and then again in the days just before to the event.
(Each time it appears in Daybook, you use credits in your account. If you want Daybook to carry the story twice, you will use the appropriate amount of credits.)
  • Include images, such as logos or photos. You can even add audio and video files, and embed PDFs and PowerPoint presentations.

Do you guarantee my story will receive news coverage?
No one can guarantee anything when it comes to news coverage. Some factors that determine the success of your story include:

  • Is it a story worthy of coverage? Is it timely? Is it relevant to a large number of readers?
  • What else is happening the day of your event? A “slow” news day means more feature stories are covered.
  • Are you credible, and is your spokesperson effective?
  • Be sure to get your story to the media in advance. As mentioned above, if possible, let them know about your event or media opp at least two weeks in advance with a follow-up story close to the event date.

Who is Daybook, Incorporated and why do you produce Daybook?
We have distributed news to the media since April 1990. We understand the demands of journalism, how technology is affecting news coverage and we know media outlets. They know us, too.

Founded in 1990 in Atlanta as the opt-in Whats Up Atlanta fax service, we quickly became a staple of the local press and professional communicators in Metro Atlanta. After 15 successful years, we migrated to a new distribution method via opt-email, RSS and web site. In 2005, Daybook expanded to the Dallas/Fort Worth market. And in 2008, Nashville Daybook has debuted.

Daybook continues to grow each day in all three cities as more and more readers turn to Daybook. Our Daybook community provides a daily convergence of local press, public relations and marketing professionals, and business/civic leaders all in an easy, unique format.
